Apothecary jars

Since buying our first home, I have found that there are a few things I must have to decorate.    Apothecary jars are one of these new loves.    I fill them with wicker items, hand made coffee filter roses and holiday decorations from the Dollar store.   They are so easy to change and fit in at any house  :)

I like to add vinyl just to spice things up.

My Vinyl obsession

I found my one true love(besides the cute hubby) and its my vinyl cutter!!   My Silhouette machine and I are never far apart.   The hubby has decided that I am just a big kid, since now I use vinyl on the walls instead of stickers, hehe.    I have a few more walls and plaques that need some vinyl, but here is what I have done so far around the new house.

Love blocks

I had bought these blocks and held onto them for almost a year.  I finally figured out what to do with them!   I painted them black and sanded the edges, then painted the edges red.  I cut out LOVE with my vinyl cutter. Then, I used glue dots to hold the flowers onto the blocks.

Punkin blocks

This little guy is easy to make. Take a block, I like 2x4x5″ blocks, paint it orange, then I cut out a the face using my silhouette and vinyl, but you could make your own face with your own design and paper. I then cut a dowel about 2″ long and painted it green, glued it to the top as the stem. I curled my ribbon then added it to the stem.

Halloween charger plate

I saw this little guy in the Silhouette design library and fell in love.   I had to use him on something, so I found a charger plate, it was around $3, and painted it with black shimmer tole paint.   I then measured the inner circle and cut out my scrapbook papers.  I used a lime green on bottem as my accent paper and the striped I cut half an inch smaller so the green would show.   I cut my skull out of  black and white vinyl, using my Silhouette, but you could use stickers, die cuts or even cut out your own design.
When placing the vinyl, I made sure to put the black vinyl down first, then layered the white on top.   I cut out skull bones from a skull font I found for free online.

Candle holder goody glasses

I needed something cute, but different to hand out candy to the neighbor kids.   I saw these candle holders at the Dollar Tree and had to try and make something out of them.   I painted the inside with tole paint, then heat embossed the rim.   I then cut out stencils, I use my Silhouette cutting machine & vinyl, but you can use any cutting machine, stencil, stamp or cut them out by hand.    I placed the stencil onto the holder then used clear embossing ink and powdered the ink, then heat embossed it.   I finished it off with tissue paper and candy :)
